We spent the week out at Pachena Bay Campground on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island, it was absolutely gorgeous.
We were taking a walk on the beach and found bull kelp intertwined. Maddie thought it looked like a sea horse when you looked from above.
A black bear is supposed to hang out near this cave but we did not see him.
The West Coast Trail, in Pacific Rim National Park, stretches 77 kilometers from Port Renfrew on the south end to Pachena Bay Campground.
We did a 22 kilometer day hike along the west coast trail to the Pachena Lighthouse Station. It was an incredible and beautiful hike with sea stacks, headlands, beaches and rainforests.
It rained quite a bit while we were hiking. It was a really muddy obstacle course. Bob had hiking boots so he could just walk right through the mud. Maddie and Jill did not have boots and were quite muddy after the hike.
Crazy tree stump with ferns growing out it.
The best part about the hike was all the obstacles. Except on the way back, we were all so tired and we had to wait for people on the ladders because you could only go one at a time.
We were laughing so hard when the sea lions would walk over each other and get into fights. They would use waves to get on and off the rock. Boy did they stink.
