Cannon Beach, Oregon

Heading south on the 101 on our way to Cannon Beach. In the distance you can see the Astoria–Megler Bridge. It is a cantilever truss bridge that spans the Columbia River between Megler, Washington and Astoria, Oregon. It is a whopping 4.1 miles (6.6 km) long and is the longest continuous truss bridge in North America. Maddie took the following bridge pictures.

It took just over an hour to get to Cannon Beach from Cape Disappointment. Another beautiful flip-flop day!

Haystack Rock has an elevation of 235 feet (72 m) and is sometimes accessible at low tide. It is made of igneous rock, formed through the cooling of lava. You are supposed to be able to see caves but I think we were too far away with the tide in.

Laundry day. While we waited, we played some pool.

So far, this is the first resort we have stayed at with a hot tub and swimming pool. We spent a lot of time in this building during our three day stay.
