On our way down the Oregon coast, we stopped at the Tillamook Cheese Factory for a free self directed tour. We finished the tour off with a few samples of cheese. Yum!
The first settlers arrived in Tillamook Valley in 1851 and shortly after started taking their dairy goodness to market. They started making cheese in 1894 and in 1909 several small creameries joined to form the Tillamook County Creamery Association.

Tillamook residents built the Morning Star to ship their goods by sea. The trails over the mountains took too long.

We spent the last four days at Devil’s Lake in Lincoln City. We caught up on some work and grocery shopping. We also took Maddie shopping for shoes and one of the cashiers told us that kids trick or treat at the outlet mall on Halloween. Maddie was so excited that she would still be able to trick or treat. There were so many kids trick or treating at the mall. I am sure this was because it was raining hard. Cute leopard!
The rain let up enough one day for us to go for a walk on the beach.
We explored a few trails around our camp site. There were signs up identifying local birds and newts. We spent our time trying to find a newt without success.
Had to take a picture of this mushroom. I thought it was a toy until I came closer. It looks like something out of Mario Bros!
Decided to make today a driving day since the rain was not letting up.

The Pacific Coast Scenic Byway, Hwy 101, is a breathtaking drive with so many picture worthy beaches, bridges and architecture.
Seagull posing for a picture.

I have always wanted to drive down the Oregon coast. This is what I pictured it would be like. Over five hours of breathtaking views…
Next stop…California!

You are a very cute leopard Madi, claws ‘n all ! Beautiful photo of the amanita muscaria mushroom (very poisonous, as you probably are aware). We’re also in for a few days of rain up here.
