We stayed at a campground called Rancho Oso. They had horseback riding! My mom took me for the first time.
My horses name was Dorito and he was so sweet. My moms was named Duke. He kept trying to go in front of my horse and he was a little bossy!
I was a little nervous when I first got on, but I got over it after we started on the trail.
I was very high off of the ground. My horse was the tallest!

Getting our stirrups adjusted by our guide.
Here we go!
We rode the horses for an hour beside the Santa Ynez river.
Celeste, our guide, took a few pictures of us on the trail.
After the ride, we were allowed to brush the horses and give them a carrot! It was so much fun and I would definitely go again.
My dad posing with a large cactus. He wanted me to take a picture of him. haha!
Next stop…Los Angeles!
…if timing works, I could arrange for some riding lessons with my horse lady when you are back this way..round Apr or May..could even do late Sept..
The weather must be just right, you are all lightly dressed and wearing sandals! 🙂
Glad you had a good ride Maddy. When I was about 14, I went riding for the first time too. The pony I had decided half way through the ride to roll over in the middle of a small pond and unfortunately I was on him… I didn’t enjoy it as much as you enjoyed your ride!
