On our way up North, we decided to take a side trip to see the Grand Canyon by rail.
The train ride took about 2 1/2 hours from Williams, Arizona.
We decided to go old school and take the 1923 Pullman Car to the canyon. We could have taken a 1950’s car with a luxury observation dome for $219 each.
The Grand Canyon Railway also does a Polar Express themed trip in December. How cool is that?
Before we boarded the train, we had some more western entertainment. Note the fresh snow…
Just over a week since we were in Mazatlan and here we are -2 celsius. We had to dig to find our toques, gloves and jackets! Brrrrr
More western entertainment with three robbers. They raced along side of the train and eventually boarded the train to rob us all. It was a lot of fun.

Once we arrived, we took a bus out to the furthest part of the village and walked the rim back.

A little further back…a little further…a little further
We eventually made it to the trail in the distance called the Bright Angel trail.

Here are a few pictures from the Bright Angel trail we hiked. We didn’t have time to do anymore than a couple miles unfortunately.

Great field trip for Madison!
I can now check the Grand Canyon off my bucket list!
