We stayed at Roca Azul RV Park in Jocotepec, by Lake Chapala, after a long 9 hour drive. The park had lots to offer with a restaurant, walking paths, lighthouse, thermal pool, playground, yurts, showers, eucalyptus spa, soccer field, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts. Unfortunately it rained almost the entire week while we were there and couldn’t enjoy the outdoors as much as we wanted to. Luckily it had decent enough wifi to stream some shows.

Beautiful poinsettia plants. This one was about 15 feet tall.
Grapefruit…yum!

We loved the art and tile work throughout the park. Some maintenance needed but they are trying to bring it back to its former glory.
There was a small 8 inch turtle in this fountain.

Old school Mexican playground. Love the crazy clown slide!

On our way from Matehuala to Lake Chapala our GPS led us down a couple of truck routes around towns instead of going through them. These by-passes were very narrow with many big potholes. Bob skirted around a very large pothole with the truck but the trailer did not follow and we felt a huge thud. When we arrived at Roca Azul, we had a look under the trailer and found 2 broken leaf springs. Normally the leaf springs should not break like that but I suspect it had something to do with all the extra weight from the cases of red wine we brought down with us.
We asked the manager if there was any place we might be able to source some replacements and he recommened a local mechanic that may be able to help. Bob and Gary went to see him and he said he might be able to find something within the next 4 or 5 days which would only leave us one afternoon to do the repairs. We said okay and hoped that we could get something and not have to stay longer than planned. The next morning we saw this van pull up outside our trailer and it was the mechanic who had 4 new leaf springs for us. Now that is service!

Luckily we were travelling with a friend who was a mechanic. What would have taken Bob days to do (with lots of googling and frustration) was done in less than half a day thanks to Gary. Thank you Gary!!
