We were invited out to El Quelite for lunch and some shopping with a few of our friends. El Quelite is 45 minutes North East of Mazatlan and resides along a river bank.
How cool…a bridge to get to your house.
Token donkey. Maddie wanted a ride on him.

There were lots of poinsettias, bougainvillea and statues throughout the town.

This guy was guarding the entrance to El Meson D Los Laureanos Restaurant where we ate lunch. This used to be the home of a general in the revolution.
Everywhere you looked you were impressed with the art, woodwork and colour. So beautiful and vibrant. Love it!
The next few pictures we are walking through the courtyard and restaurant to get to our table.

Peacocks hanging around.
Roosters roosting in a tree.
Wooden sculptures and trinkets.
Posing in front of the tiled well.

Yes, this is still part of the restaurant!
Love the bougainvillea!
After lunch, we bought some local fudge and did some shopping.
Can you spot the butterfly? We thought it was a dried up leaf until it flew.

The town square with underground library.
Cacti growing on a roof.
Statue commemorating the Mayan Ball Game – body parts such as the hips and thighs were used – the use of hands and feet were not allowed.
Very pretty place!
