A few of our friends have been to Old Bisbee and loved it. Since we were in Tombstone, we decided to take a day trip to check it out.
“Old Bisbee” is home to a thriving downtown art scene. Most of the buildings have been beautifully restored and because the city plan was laid out before cars, it is compact and walkable.

We stopped for lunch at a small cafe called “Cornecopia”. It was perfect for me. The menu was full of gluten free soups, sandwiches and desserts. It was delicious!

I think you have to be an artist to get this statue. Not sure what it was…

After lunch, we went to the Queen Mine for a tour.
All decked out in our mining digs!
Our tour guide took us on a trolley through the mine.

If you ever wondered where miners relieved themselves…
When this mine was started, it took two miners to drill the deeper holes. One would hold and turn the pike, while the other hammered. A pneumatic drill was a vast improvement on the old system.
We had a great tour guide with a couple decades of personal experience working in mines.

We all enjoyed the tour!
Up next…The Grand Canyon!
What a fantastic tour! Heather enjoyed all the pics too! Can’t wait for the grand canyon adventures!
How did you feel when you were down in bowels of the earth? No claustrophobia? Looks like it was a great experience to go through the mine. xox Mom
