We are still in Duncan working out the next leg of our journey and getting our chores done.
We went for a hike (approximately 10 km) on Maple Mountain in Crofton. There were a few well marked trails (blue, yellow and pink routes).
We took the blue trail out and the yellow back along the coast line. The trail is tucked away along the shoreline of the Sansum Narrow that separates Salt Spring Island and Vancouver Island.
The coastal yellow trail is more strenuous then the blue route. A lot of scrambling up and down…part of the reason we didn’t have any pictures from yellow trail.

This hike is a true hidden gem. The blue trail takes you through a sanctuary of ferns, mosses and earthy scents.
We went on another hike in the Cowichan Valley with my girls. Maddie took this beautiful picture. Photographer in the making!

The infamous Pacific Northwest Crocomoose?
I walked just a ways up Maple Mountain with a group of friends a few weeks ago. Very enjoyable, but had only an hour to hike. I have done the yellow trail with my neighbor friend Sharron, a few years back. Wonderful views. Don’t know whether you and Bob are aware or not: If you go through the shrubbery, you need to be aware especially in the spring and fall that there are Lyme Disease-bearing ticks that can latch on to you.. It’s wise to check all over your body after the hike. xox Mom
